This year’s Birdfair marks twenty years of what has become
the largest birdwatching gathering in the world. From it’s
humble beginnings, when it was first sponsored by In Focus to today’s
prestigious event, the Birdfair has raised funds, to date nearly
£1,929,000 to help the conservation of birds and their habitats
throughout the world.
In Focus are both proud and excited to continue their sponsorship
of the Birdfair and look forward to seeing customers old and new
at Rutland Water on 15th 16th and 17th of August this year.
In 2007 a new project ‘Preventing Extinctions: Saving the World’s
Critically Endangered Birds’ was launched and In Focus were
one of the first to sign up as a Species Champion, adopting the
White-shouldered Ibis. In short the aim of the project is to see
many of the 189 species come off the Critically Endangered list
and have a more secure future.
Many of the chosen species are on the brink of extinction, with
some having such a severely restricted range that their global populations
are now below 50 individuals.
