This poro-prism binocular provides the very highest optical resolution for
your money, the HR WP successfully combines the innate qualities of both
traditional porro-prism and modern roof-prism formats into a single multi-purpose,
user friendly, high performance field glass.
Available in 8x42 and 10x42, each optical system uses the enlarged 'B' porro
prism format in combination with internal focusing and long focal length
long eye-relief eyepieces. Component glass materials are of a very high
quality and all air-to-glass surfaces are fully multi-coated to minimise
light loss through the system. To keep weight at a minimum while maintaining
rigidity, the chassis is built using a mix of aluminium, magnesium and plastics.
Hermetically sealed, each instrument is fully nitrogen waterproof to a depth
of 3m and is guranteed for 30 years against manufacturing defects. Featuring
twist type retractable eyecups for spectacle wearers and left side dioptre
adjustment situated on the centre focus wheel.

This new range
of binoculars, from Steiner Germany, include a 10x42 an 8x42 and an 8x32.
They are lightweight, fully rubber armoured and feature a pronounced thumb
grip moulded into the underside of the body, which makes the 42mm models
useable in one hand. They have soft wrap around eyecups to block out distracting
sidelight and to provide comfort during periods of prolonged viewing. This
is particularly useful in windy conditions as the snug fit stops watery
eyes.

They are a sheer pleasure to use, easy to hold and feature a rapid focus
mechanism. Close focus is down to 2 meters and all models offer a full eyerelief

These
binoculars eliminate chromatic aberration and provide a sharp crisp bright
image all at the same time. Weight is a very respectable 775-765 g.
7x42 boast a field of view of 150m/1000 dropping to a respectable 110m/1000

VICTORY 8x32 FL
This
is the latest in the new FL range of binoculars from Zeiss and again in
common with the 40mm range they have produced an excellent binocular.
The Zeiss 8x32 FL is compact and lightweight (580gms), fully waterprooof
and therefore ideal for travelling. The field of view is very wide at
140m and close focus down to 2 meters. Resolution is on a par with other
top models like Swarovski and Nikon and brightness is arguably the best
of the three.
In
the end it will largely come down to how the binocular feels in the hand
compared to other top models and cost. At the price it is the most expensive
of the high end compacts but if you want top quality resolution and detail
it is well worth looking at.
