The Nikon ED82 - a review

Nikon ED82It was field tested in some very diverse conditions in Anglesey while watching the Black Lark. The first impression was an extremely bright image and thankfully one that was sharp right to the edge of the field of view. The yellow ring round the edge so noticeable on the previous zoom eyepiece has now gone and the colour rendition was superb giving Nikon's famous own eye image.

The new zoom is a 25 - 75 x specification, which allows higher magnifications than its rivals. Focussing is via a helical barrel as on the ED3, indeed the scope is just like a larger version of the 60mm scope and so those people who use that scope at the moment will feel immediately at home with this big brother. With varying light conditions the scope continued to punch through a bright image with excellent colour contrast, and as the mist descended there were no worries about lack of waterproofing.
