A great start to the year birding wise on the reserve and from the shop! So far we have recorded just over 70 species from our windows including Bewick’s Swan, Fieldfare, Redwing and Brambling. There are also signs that spring is just around the corner with Ringed Plover, Redshank and Oystercatcher returning to breed and certainly not long before the first Avocet arrive.
As usual great views of raptors with Peregrines hunting daily, Common Buzzard displaying on milder days, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel and Merlin.

Digiscoping
The new 10 mega pixel Panasonic Lumix digiscoping kit is proving to be very popular. Using the excellent tried and tested DCC mount the kit can be combined with most telescopes. The camera operations are the simplest yet for those with techno-phobia! Call in for a demonstration.
